The convergence of building systems and IT has evolved at BuilConn over the past five years, recently typified by the term Buildings 2.0 as a grand vision of the future of internet-centric buildings. Following two years of industry roundtables, in 2008 BuilConn will host an industry discussion on the subject of green energy, sustainability, and the role that Buildings 2.0 will play over the course of the Energy Revolution.

This session will refocus the Buildings 2.0 initiative and will explore new perspectives of the future of buildings in the light of a number of new drivers and technologies likely to be implemented. Speakers from key industry areas, including vendors, integrators, consultants and architects, will discuss how Buildings 2.0 plays into the current trends of green buildings, increased sensitivities to energy management, costs and sustainable agendas.

While the concept can be easily grasped, the full extent of realizing the Buildings 2.0 vision is in creating unique value proposition for building owners. Such a discussion will quickly enter into a debate on the business objectives of building owners and how their facilities can help or hinder them. From enterprise integration to occupant comfort, safety, and improved experiences, Buildings 2.0 holds significant promise to increase the value proposition of tomorrow’s green buildings.
